Tottenham are moving closer to completing a huge double deal for Omar Marmoush and Savinho from Manchester City, with the total package potentially reaching around £140 million.
The interesting part is not simply the combined price, but how that total may be split between the two players.
City are said to value Savinho at around £85 million and Marmoush at roughly £55 million. Why such a large difference?
The answer may involve Eintracht Frankfurt.
Frankfurt could be the loser
Marmoush’s former club reportedly own a 15% sell-on clause. The higher the declared fee for Marmoush, the more money Frankfurt would receive.
The article therefore suggests City could have an incentive to allocate more of the combined value to Savinho and less to Marmoush while keeping the same overall price.
For Tottenham, the internal split matters relatively little because the club still pays the agreed total. But for Manchester City and Frankfurt, the way the package is allocated could make a significant financial difference.
